Even Sirens Have Mothers ...

... and mine arrives tomorrow for a visit. Posting will be less frequent next week, but I will still be around. Keep the home fires burning. Posted by Picasa

Slow on the uptake here.
I just noticed that you throw in Sirk not once but twice in your sidebar, not just Magnificent Obsession but even Lured.
btw, Claudette in your pic reminds me: I just caught up with John M. Stahl's original Imitation Of Life. Not in Sirk's league of course, but a pretty darned impressive (and prescient) movie just the same; I was surprised. Now I need to hunt down Stahl's original Magnificent Obsession.

When you do, PLEASE let me know. Haven't seen the Stahl "Obsession." Speaking of my mother -- she loves both "Imitations" but says she likes the Stahl better because (and I can't argue with her here) Colbert is a better actress than Turner. Thanks for noticing the refs, it does a film geek's heart good.

You chose that photo from one of my SigOther Pam's 2 favorite films. Thank you!

Oh thank goodness you didn't post a still from Mildren Pierce for a mothers-and-daughters theme.

Have fun with your ma!

Oh shoot. I'm a terrible typist. MildreD, not Mildren. Bleh.
